Meet Roman! Our Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and co-founder of nerdytec. With a passion for product development, Roman talks to us about how he approaches his role in an ever-changing industry and what he's up to at nerdytec HQ.
What inspired you to pursue a career in gaming?
Gaming has been ingrained in my DNA since my early days with the Nintendo NES. As time passed and 1996 rolled around, I made the switch from console gaming to the world of PC gaming. Although I didn't pursue a career directly within the gaming industry, fate smiled upon me when an opportunity arose that allowed me to dive headfirst into a profession closely tied to the realm of gaming.
How did that lead you to nerdytec?
During my time studying engineering in renewable energies, an exciting project called nerdytec and the Couchmaster® emerged. As gaming had always captured my heart, I was naturally drawn to the concept of the Couchmaster® and the opportunity to collaborate with my friend Chris on this venture. With each passing day, my passion for this project grew stronger, ultimately leading me to let go of my aspirations of becoming an engineer. The allure of working on something closely tied to gaming was simply too hard to resist.
What's your role on the team, and what are your responsibilities?
As nerdytec's CTO, I am responsible for product development and handling various technical aspects. From ideation to execution, I drive innovation, solve problems, and ensure technical excellence. It's a privilege and responsibility to guide nerdytec's growth in the ever-evolving landscape of technology.
What do you enjoy most about working in the gaming industry?
The gaming industry is a remarkably open-minded and inclusive space, where people are inherently kind and supportive. It's an environment where strict rules are scarce, allowing for boundless creativity in product development. The freedom to explore and implement ideas knows no bounds, granting you the opportunity to unleash your imagination to its fullest potential. In this dynamic environment, innovation thrives, and there are no limits to the possibilities that can be brought to life.
What are some challenges you've faced in your role and how have you overcome them?
The process of product development demands considerable patience, as it rarely unfolds as smoothly as one would hope. It took some time to embrace the idea of seeking external assistance for these endeavors and to find the right partners to collaborate with.
This realization proved crucial because the truth is: you cannot embark on the journey of product development alone. It requires the synergy of like-minded individuals, each bringing their unique expertise to the table. Embracing this notion enabled me to navigate the challenges more effectively and fostered an environment where the seeds of innovation could truly flourish.

How do you stay up-to-date with the latest trends in gaming?
I read the latest news on the major gaming websites like PC Gamer, PCGames and GameStar. Or I go over to Reddit for consumer recommendations to see what other gamers are saying.
What type of Couchmaster and accessories do you use at home?
At home, I have the CYCON², accompanied by its XXL mouse pad and the convenient cell phone holder, as well as the CYBOT, featuring our nerdytray. What’s your top tip for the best ergonomic gaming experience?

Remember to take regular breaks, ideally every hour, to rise from your seat, stretch your legs, and perhaps even indulge in a refreshing beverage.

What are your predictions for the future of video games, and how will nerdytec adapt to meet the evolving needs of gamers?
Games will very soon achieve a graphic realism that hardly differs from reality. So it will be even more important for game developers that the game excites you in a different way.
